For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward his name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints. Hebrews 6:10

Busyness is doing what everyone else wants us to do, or better yet what we think everyone else wants us to do. Busyness is the task the world assigns us that God doesn’t want us to be doing. These are the tasks that we do out selfishness. Philippians 2:3 says, “ Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.”
Purposefulness does the will of God. It is driven out of a result of study of the Word of God and prayer. That is one more reason why these things are important. It may or may not include a very full schedule. And it may be extremely tiring at times and for a long time. But except for periods of emergency, it will always include time for God both in study and prayer.
There are a few key questions to ask if it is purposeful work or is it busyness before moving forward? This is not always easy to determine. Airplane pilots make sure they don’t fly into the side of a mountain or crash on take off by using check lists. We have done the same here. Don’t crash your life with busyness. Go through the checklist first.

“Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. We hope this helps. Of course, there is no formula for a perfect life, and we know as followers of Christ we will face trials and persecutions as well as resistance provided by the enemy of our souls. Our hope here is to help all of us fight for the right things without unnecessary anxiety. Please email with questions to prayer@aquietwater.com or Doug@aquietwater.com.
